Bedroom Storage Hacks
A bedroom should be a calming sanctuary. Too often, however, bedrooms become congested with heaps of clothing and clutter. If this sounds familiar, don’t fret. The Baru team is here with tried and true storage hacks. It’s all about maximizing your closet, bed, nightstand, and wall space.
Closet Storage
If built-ins are not an option, consider a custom wardrobe or dresser that will add storage without taking up the entire room. In a really small space, using a clothing rack turns your clothing and accessories into a decor feature. You could also go the DIY route and create your own clothing rack or open closet by attaching S-hooks to any closet rod (or broom handle or stainless steel pipe). Similarly, if you’re not too worried about wrinkling or crease lines, you can use open-faced shelving to organize and display your closet.
Bed Storage
Bed frames with built-in storage are always a good option. Headboards can provide additional shelves and cabinets. You may also want to place a storage bench or trunk at the foot of the bed for even more storage. In very small bedrooms, consider a platform bed (to make the most of a room’s vertical space) or murphy bed.
Pro tip: Vacuum seal out-of-season clothing to store under the bed.
Nightstand Storage
Make your nightstand work for you. Choose a nightstand that fits the available space while still providing storage. Place your bed near a desk or vanity and use that as a multipurpose nightstand. Use a rolling cart or bar cart that can be easily moved and repurposed. Or invest in some modular cubes that can act as flexible seating, storage, and counter space. In super tiny bedrooms, you may want to opt for a wall mounted or floating nightstand to save as much space as possible.
Hanging Storage
Don’t forget about your bedroom walls and ceiling. Accessories and shoes can be hung behind a door or up on a pegboard. Your laundry bag can hang from a hook on the wall. And a hanging organizer can store office supplies, small electronics, or makeup tools within easy reach.
And with just a few adjustments your bedroom is clutter-free and organized. Ahhh… sanctuary.
